Hello friends! I am a former reluctant reader turned high school English teacher. For over a decade, I watched my high school English students STRUGGLE with reading and writing – mostly because they just weren’t engaged in the material. SO, I went back to school to learn more about how to support high school students with reading and writing and how to make alllll the things they needed myself. 🙂 I now have a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Secondary Literacy! I create resources for high school English to make your life easier and your students’ time in English class fun and applicable to what they’re actually facing on a daily basis.
I currently teach high school English – all 4 grades and every level from honors to ELL to inclusion. I also work as an academic support coach at an alternative high school in my area.
I place a strong focus on creating a rigorous, customized curriculum that is tailored to a student’s individual strengths and growth areas. I truly believe that every student holds the power to positively change his/her life by becoming better readers, writers, speakers, and listeners.
Overall, I think that education should be celebrated, and learning should seem like a party. I want our high school students to be excited to learn, and to activate skills that will be beneficial to them, not only in the classroom but also in the “real world.” I absolutely love my job and I’m excited to work with various student types – from the reluctant reader to the Harvard-bound valedictorian.
I believe that a good education can change anyone, but a good teacher can change everything.
